Conversation with Consul General: Israeli Supreme Court Ruling on Reform and Conservative Conversions

Join us for a special program on Tuesday, March 16 at 1pm on Zoom with Gilad Katz, Consul General of Israel to the Southwest United States!

In a landmark Israeli Supreme Court decision issued on Monday, March 1, the Court ruled to recognize conversions by the Reform and Conservative Movements, performed in Israel based on the Law of Return. Converts will now receive an oleh (immigrant) status and Israeli citizenship. Come learn from the Consul General about the background of this decision and what it means for Jews living in Israel and around the world.

Consul General Gilad Katz was appointed as Head of Post in August of 2017 to lead the Consulate General of Israel to the Southwest United States, which is responsible for the five state region of Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. The Consulate’s departments include Academic, Cultural, Hispanic, Press, Political, and Strategic Affairs. Prior to his current role, he held the title of Advisor to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
