Tu B’Shevat Facts
Tu B’Shevat is observed on the 15th day of the Hebrew month of Shevat (January 28th in 2021).
The holiday marks the season in which the earliest-blooming trees in the Land of Israel emerge from their winter sleep and begin a new fruit-bearing cycle.
We mark the day by eating fruit, particularly from the “Seven Species” with which Israel is blessed (wheat, barley, grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives and dates).
Israelis and Jews across the globe plant trees to celebrate, along with commemorate and honor loved ones on this Jewish Arbor Day.
