The FBI’s Hate Crime Statistics for 2019 came out in November. They showed a 2.7% increase in hate crimes overall: the fourth increase in five years, and a 14% increase in anti-Semitic hate crimes. ADL has logged a 77% increase in anti-Semitic incidents from January through October 2020 over all of 2019.
One of the ways to counteract all this hate, is to keep track of it, and to report it. ADL can keep track of information you might have and share it with law enforcement, and that can result in an understanding of trends, where the hate may be happening, and where it might pop up again.
You can help. Learn the difference between a hate incident and hate crime. Get to know some of the extremist groups active in our area and what they do, and find out how to report what you see or hear. Sign up for ADL’s presentation Hate Crimes and Hate Incidents: How to Recognize Them and How to Report Them!
