Interest Group: “Before the Pilgrims” Presentation by the Texas Jewish Historical Society

Join us for our first Interest Group meeting of the year as Barbara Rosenberg of the Texas Jewish Historical Society presents, “Before the Pilgrims”.
Hear the heroic and tragic history about the Jews (men and women) who arrived in the area which would later become Northern Mexico and the United States, particularly an area of colonization by Crypto Jews from Spain which now forms a considerable portion of Texas. This Spanish land grant was called Nuevo Leon and dates from the 1500’s, long before the Pilgrims landed in 1620. The talk includes stories of how remnants of these people are rediscovering their origins even today.
