Nature Walks Group: Mercer Arboretum and Botanic Gardens

At the end of January, the HCRJ Nature Walks Group will be visiting Mercer Arboretum and Botanic Gardens!

An oasis of serenity and natural beauty along Cypress Creek, this is a horticultural masterpiece and living museum. More than 400 acres showcase the region’s largest collection of native and cultivated plants.

There are three parts to the morning – come to any one or combination of these activities. The Mercer Arboretum and Botanic Gardens is located at 22306 Aldine Westfield Road, Humble, TX 77338.

Schedule
8:15 – 8:30 AM – Arrive at the Mercer Botanic Gardens.
8:30 – 9:00 AM – Use bathrooms, stroll, and register.
9:00 – 10:00 AM – Tai Chi class.  FREE.  Practice low impact and slow motion stretching exercises.  Train your mind to relax.
10:00 – 10:35 AM – Tour the Mercer Botanic Gardens.
10:35 – 10:45 AM – Drive to the Mercer Arboretum.
10:45 AM – 12:15 PM – Walk in the Mercer Arboretum.

Keith Rosen is your guide for the nature walk. Keith was active as a hiker and leader with the Sierra Club and Florida Trail Association in the 1990s and has led repeated hikes in Big Bend National Park.  He has conducted walking tours for his company Houston Historical Tours since approximately 2003. In 2020, he walks an average of over 6 miles each day.
