Join us for an Italian Shabbat in the spirit of the Italian Renaissance.
Dinner starts at 6:00PM including penne with marinara sauce, meatballs, vegetable lasagna and penne chicken piccata. We will then have a worship service starting at 7:15PM shaped by melodies composed by Salomone Rossi, who composed music both for the synagogues and to entertain the dukes of Mantua. Rossi, a product of heightened cultural interaction between Jews and Christians in Renaissance Italy, introduced element of modern European music into the Jewish liturgy.
All are welcome. You do not need to be a member to join us in prayer as we welcome the Sabbath bride. Immediately following services, we gather together at the oneg (joy) for cookies and conversation.
