The Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation is an organization created by the Bush family to improve the quality of lives through the power of literacy. The Foundation advocates for literacy as a fundamental right for everyone and views literacy as a necessary skill to achieve individual, family, and community success. It is founded on the belief held by former First Lady Barbara Bush: “If you help a person to read, then their opportunities in life will be endless.”
We’ll be volunteering at the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation My Home Library’s Big Awesome Book Sort! My Home Library allows students to choose six free, brand new books to build their very own home libraries. Our duties will include sorting books and bagging and boxing them for each student.
The project location is at Region 4 Education Service Center, 7200 Northwest 100 Drive, Houston, TX 77092. This is a project for ages 16+. Contact Justin to sign up at 713-782-4162 or admin@hcrj.org.
