March 16-20 is Spring Break for Houston ISD. How do we spend this week at HCRJ? Participating in social action projects! Come with us to volunteer at Kids’ Meals during the week and Heights Interfaith Ministries on the weekend!
Kids’ Meals – Wednesday, March 18 – 9am-11:30am
The mission of Kids’ Meals is to end childhood hunger by delivering free healthy meals to the doorsteps of Houston’s hungriest pre-school-aged children and through collaboration provide their families with resources to help end the cycle of poverty. Kids’ Meals is a first-responder to children ages five years-old and under facing debilitating hunger due to extreme poverty.
During this volunteer experience, we will be preparing meals in the Kids’ Meals kitchen.
This project is for ages 8+. Kids’ Meals is located at 330 Garden Oaks Boulevard, Houston, TX 77018.
Heights Interfaith Ministries – Saturday, March 21 – 9:30am-12pm
Heights Interfaith Ministries is a food pantry which provides generous and nutritious meals to families in all zip codes of Houston. It is a “Client Choice” Pantry. Heights Interfaith Ministries clients choose their own food. Meat, eggs, produce and toiletries are provided with each order.
At this project, we will help clients select their groceries in the food pantry, bag groceries and bring items to their cars.
This project is for all ages. Heights Interfaith Ministries is located at 3523 Beauchamp Street, Houston, TX 77009.

Kids participating can volunteer with their parents or be dropped off at the activity or at the temple – HCRJ will have adult volunteers overseeing these projects.
