Special Shabbats

Throughout the year, Houston Congregation for Reform Judaism plans a variety of special Shabbat programs. Here are just four of them!

Simchat Torah Celebration with Klezmer Concert
Celebrate Torah like never before and enjoy an evening of music and joy featuring an amazing Klezmer band, KOSHER KLEZMER. The concert is during the oneg after services.

Deli Shabbos

Our Deli Shabbos is a congregational favorite. We welcome Ziggy Gruber (owner of Kenny & Ziggy’s) to the pulpit. The menu for the 10th Annual Deli Shabbos on Friday, November 17th includes chopped liver and bagel chips, dinner rolls, pickles on the tables, matzah ball soup, mini Hungarian vegetarian stuffed cabbage, Cholent stew with Short ribs-barley-beans-“Kisha Burtst”, String beans with garlic, carrot souffle and for dessert Bobka and Rugelach.

Chanukah Shabbat

We celebrate our observance of Chanukah on Shabbat every year. Families are invited to light menorahs on the bimah. Following services, latkes and apple sauce are the highlight of the evening at our latke oneg.

Purim Shabbat

Dress in costume for our Purim Shabbat! This holiday observance includes a megillah reading and hamantashen for all.
