Join us for a morning of coffee, conversation and hamentaschen baking! Hamentaschen made will be used for our oneg and Religious School.
This is a great way to get involved and meet new people. No experience needed.
Want to make hamentaschen at home? Here is a recipe we found on Reform Judaism.org
Ingredients:
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
Filling:
6 ounces chocolate chips
1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon milk
1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg, beaten
Directions:
Combine all dough ingredients and blend well to make cookie dough. Roll thinly on lightly floured board.
Combine all filling ingredients except egg in a small saucepan. Cook over low heat until melted. Remove from heat. Blend in egg.
Cut dough into circles and place one teaspoon of filling in each center. Pinch up sides to form 3-pointed hamantasch.
Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes.

Sukkot Pot Luck celebration at HCRJ for 6 through 12 graders. Join us at HCRJ with your favorite side dish (kosher style please) and enjoy a Sukkot celebration with games and music. Come from 6:00 – 7:30pm with your family and friends.

Sukkot begins tonight at Sundown and ends sundown on October 4th. Build a sukkah, invite friends and enjoy a meal.
The Jewish festival which gives thanks for the fall harvest is called Sukkot which means “booths” or “huts.” It also commemorates the 40 years of Jewish wandering in the desert after the giving of the Torah atop Mt. Sinai. Sukkot is celebrated five days after Yom Kippur on the 15th of Tishrei.
All youth from grades 6-12 are invited to join us ford dinner in the sukkah from 6:30-8:30pm.
We’ll take care of the main dish, you provide the side dish!
