The Torah Project
Write the next chapter of our story
Alongside HCRJ’s 70th anniversary, we are also inscribing a new Torah this year. Throughout the year you will have the opportunity to take part in events surrounding the new Torah, which began with the Sofer’s visit in October and will continue when he returns in January.
Next Event, January 11 and 12
Learn with the Sofer and help inscribe the Torah
A sofer (a trained Torah scribe) writes every letter of a Torah by hand. During the Sofer’s visit you will have the opportunity to learn about this sacred work and even take part in inscribing our new Torah alongside the Sofer.
About the Torah Project
A new Torah for the next seventy years
For generations, the Torah has been the heart of Jewish life, handwritten with care, devotion and intention. Each letter carries meaning. Each word tells our story.
Today, HCRJ invites you to take part in a profound and lasting mitzvah: the commissioning of a new Torah.
This is more than a gift. It is a legacy. A Torah is not simply read; it is lived, celebrated and passed from generation to generation. By participating in this sacred project, you become part of an unbroken chain of tradition, ensuring that our community continues to learn, grow and gather around the Torah for years to come.
