Alongside HCRJ’s 70th anniversary, we are also inscribing a new Torah this year. Throughout the year you will have the opportunity to take part in events surrounding the new Torah, beginning with the Sofer’s visit on Sunday, October 11, and Monday, October 12.

Learn with the Sofer and help inscribe the Torah
A sofer (a trained Torah scribe) writes every letter of a Torah by hand. During the Sofer’s visit you will have the opportunity to learn about this sacred work and even take part in inscribing our new Torah alongside the Sofer.

A new Torah for the next seventy years
For generations, the Torah has been the heart of Jewish life, handwritten with care, devotion and intention. Each letter carries meaning. Each word tells our story.
Today, HCRJ invites you to take part in a profound and lasting mitzvah: the commissioning of a new Torah.
