Shabbat Services

August 1, 2015 by HCRJ Web Admin Leave a Comment

shabbat candlesAll are welcome to join us at 7:15 Friday nights for Shabbat Services.

You do not need to be a member to join us in prayer as we welcome the Sabbath bride. Immediately following services, we gather together at the oneg (joy) for cookies and conversation.

HCRJ uses of a modernized edition of the Union Prayer Book. It contains extensive transliteration of most of the Hebrew prayers, thereby enabling those who do not read Hebrew to participate in the liturgy.

We encourage you to discover within its pages a fresh approach and a return to the ideals of Reform Judaism.

Shabbat Services (Simchat Torah Got Shabbat with Klezmer Band)

August 1, 2015 by HCRJ Web Admin Leave a Comment

shabbat candlesKlezmer Music is noted for its joyous melodies.  One cannot hear the sounds of Klezmer without feeling the urge to dance (think “Hava Nagilla”).

For the second consecutive year, our celebration of Simchat Torah will be coupled with a magical world of Klezmer. Join us for a very special Simchat Torah service on Friday, October 28 as we finish the final words of the Torah and immediately begin anew, symbolically affirming our people’s eternal devotion to the teachings of our faith. Celebrate Torah like never before and enjoy an evening of music and joy.   This evening of celebration is appropriate for all ages.

Our Simchat Torah Got Shabbat is part of our 60th Anniversary year celebration and is sponsored by Julia Miller.

Purim Shabbat

August 1, 2015 by HCRJ Web Admin Leave a Comment

Join us as we celebrate Purim as a congregation!

The Sabbath experience will be an evening of joyous celebration. A Purim Band (graciously underwritten by Mike and Kitty Kahn in honor of Mike’s 60th birthday) will add energy and exuberance to our holiday observance which will include a megillah reading and hamantashen for all.

The oneg after services is sponsored by the Bernosky family in honor of Eli’s Bar Mitzvah.
